Choosing travel insurance

Whether you are a new traveller and has never come to Bali yet, or you have visited this island frequently, it will be better for you to have travel insurance before coming to Bali.
It's because most of the tourist activities in Bali are outdoors. There are many risks form those activities that could affect your health and safety. Eating street food, riding a motorcycle, driving a car, diving, surfing, rafting, hiking, and bungee jumping, are most common activities that pose risks to tourists and expats in Bali.

To be sick or get injured in Bali is not cheap. It's even more expensive, if you need to be evacuated to seek more advance medical care, or go back to your home country.
Here are some clues on what need to be considered in choosing travel insurance. Your travel insurance has to cover:
  • Medical (including outpatient and inpatient treatments)
  • Emergency medical situation
  • Emergency evacuation
  • Repatriation
  • It's also highly recommended to get one with pre-existing diseases coverage, should you have any. Please bring with you a short statement or letter from your doctor, to state what kind of medical condition you have, and what medicines you are on. It would be really useful, should unfortunate things happened.
  • Other than medical coverage, it also has to cover travel protection and baggage protection.
So get travel insurance when you're travelling overseas. Things can happen whilst you're holidaying.
